Sarpsborg 08 had a tough day at the office at Lerkendal, but they had Mamour Ndiaye in goal. The Senegalese goalkeeper made several fantastic saves, took penalties and finished with a controversial decision in the penalty shootout. For there was not much at stake when Ndiaye - who had saved two of four Rosenborg penalties - asked teammate Martin Håheim-Elveseter to return to the midfield line. A cup semifinal was at stake when Håheim-Elveseter thought he would take what could be the decisive penalty. But that's not how it turned out. Instead, Ndiaye stepped up to the penalty spot himself and scored the final penalty past Rosenborg goalkeeper Sander Tangvik. Sarpsborg 08 coach Christian Michelsen was pleased with the goalkeeper's performance and told NRK that Ndiaye has the confidence and that they are through to the semifinals. Rosenborg captain Ole Selnæs was disappointed and said that it's frustrating and that football can be brutal. He thought that Rosenborg controlled the game for 125 minutes and created many more scoring opportunities than Sarpsborg 08. The drama came late at Lerkendal when Rosenborg turned the game around in a short time. First, Rosenborg's striker Dino Islamovic scored the important equalizer in the 95th minute. In the first extra time, he also scored the lead goal and sent the Lerkendal crowd into full ecstasy. Then Jo Inge Berget silenced the home crowd. In the 105th minute, he exploited an Ole Selnæs mistake, gained speed and shot via the same Selnæs again and into the goal. Thus, the game was decided from the penalty spot. There, Ole Sæter and Dino Islamovic missed for the Trondheim team, while Iver Fossum and Ole Selnæs scored their penalties. For Sarpsborg 08, Niklas Sandberg, Sveinn Gudjohnsen, Jo Inge Berget and goalkeeper hero Mamour Ndiaye were secure. Thus, it is the Østfold team that is ready for the cup semifinals. Expert Kristoffer Løkberg thought that Ndiaye is the big hero and that a new legend is born. Sarpsborg 08 has a jewel in their ranks. Ndiaye himself told NRK that he is calm and never nervous. He took the last penalty himself because he is calm and has confidence in himself. Sarpsborg 08 can now look forward to the cup semifinals with great confidence in their goalkeeper. Mamour Ndiaye has proven to be a decisive player for the team and can be an important factor in the fight for the cup. Rosenborg, on the other hand, must look at themselves and figure out what went wrong. They had many scoring opportunities, but failed to capitalize on them. Ole Selnæs thought that they controlled the game, but that they are not good enough to win the game. Dino Islamovic was one of the best players on the pitch, but he failed to decide the game on his own. Sarpsborg 08 won in the end on penalties and can now celebrate a big win. They are ready for the cup semifinals and can look forward to an exciting game against an unknown opponent.
