Sarpsborg 08 has sacked coaches Michelsen and Klæboe after a string of poor results. The club confirmed this in a press release on Wednesday morning. The parties had initially planned to solve the difficult sporting situation together, but after several meetings on Tuesday, it ended with them parting ways. Chairman Hans Petter Arnesen says this is a tough day for all parties. Sarpsborg 08 must now find a new coach before the cup final against Lillestrøm in December. Michelsen and Klæboe were hired by Sarpsborg 08 last summer when Stefan Billborn and Joachim «Jocke» Björklund decided to leave for IFK Göteborg. The duo took over a team that was far down the table, but after a good finish to the autumn season, the team ended up in 9th place in the Eliteserien. This season, the team had a decent start in the series, but the last few weeks have been tough and now they are on a four-game losing streak. Sander Håskjold Nyland will continue as assistant coach and will lead Wednesday's training session along with Dag Tore Bergerud, John Alvbåge and Amin Askar. Michelsen says he is proud and humble to have been the head coach of a fantastic club with fantastic fans and good supporters. Klæboe is sad that his second period at Sarpsborg 08 is over and thanks the supporters and the large 08-family for their support to the team in a memorable cooperation. Sarpsborg 08 has no new coach ready after Michelsen and Klæboe left the club. Arnesen does not want to elaborate on why the club has terminated the cooperation with Michelsen and Klæboe. He says this is an internal matter in the club and personnel matters. Sarpsborg 08 must now find a new coach who can lead the team to success in the cup final against Lillestrøm in December.
